Onling Gaming Tidbits for March 2nd, 2009

2009 March 3
  • Wave of phishing attacks target Steam – You can’t exactly fault Valve here. Phishers simply go where the (gullible) people are. But what was the objective? Steam accounts don’t have credit cards associated with them. To play games linked to them for a few hour until they’re locked out again by Valve?
  • PlayStation Trophies Viewable Online Tomorrow – Video demo of how trophies will be integrated into PlayStation.com shortly. The gap to Xbox Live closes.
  • Own your own game server soon! | Battlefield Heroes – If I read this correctly, they are pimping their gaming ISP partners where you’ll be able to rent your own servers. Scaling up to user demand by region is going to be crucial here when dedicated servers through partners is the only way you can play.
  • Funcom eyes free-to-play as Age of Conan comes up short – Both micro-transaction driven titles set to debut in Q4 2009.
  • Watchmen: Justice is Coming’ iPhone MMO – Developer Last Legion is using ‘patent-pending CloudMMO technology’ based on Amazon’s cloud computing and storage offerings to create a persistent world for the iPhone in the Watchmen universe. Debuts March 6rd, just in time for the movie.
